Record summer in MobilePay
June was a record setting month for MobilePay in both Denmark and Finland. Even the normally weaker July performed much better than earlier and delivered several records. After a strong summer MobilePay is now heading for high growth for the 9th year in a row.
The summer months in MobilePay have been very successful. June showed all time high results in both Denmark and Finland. The normally weaker July was also clearly better than earlier years.
“The numbers are extremely good and reflect the attractiveness of our products. They do however also reflect that our societies are leaving COVID behind. Consumers are again optimistic about the future. Besides, many Danes and Finns have this year had their vacation in their home countries and used MobilePay more during the summer than normally,” says Claus Bunkenborg, CEO of MobilePay.
During 2021 business transactions in Denmark have grown with impressive 45% compared with the same period last year. In Finland it is even better, namely 119%. In Finland person-to-person transactions are also continuing the rapid growth and are up with 71%.
For the year to date the share of business transactions in Denmark is now close to 45%. In Finland it is 36%.
In general MobilePay Finland is in a sharper growth phase than Denmark, however growing from a lower activity level.

Finland passes six million transactions in June and July
For June alone MobilePay Finland passed six million transactions in a month for the first time. In volume its 200 million Euro. However July became even better with 6.6 m transactions, in volume 222 million Euro.
Denmark also had the highest amount of transactions ever in June, 38.8 million, in volume 13.9 billion kroner.
During July the total amount of transactions in Finland was 74% higher than July last year. In Denmark transactions in July were 14% higher than July last year and reached almost 36 million, equivalent to 13.5 billion kroner.
“In both Denmark and Finland our online sales solutions have been doing fantastic during the period with COVID restrictions. They are still doing very well, and on top of that our solutions for physical shops are now also doing great again. Most remarkable is MyShop in Denmark that during June had the best month ever with 6.2 million transactions,” says Claus Bunkenborg.
